A visit from Addy.

Addy Elizabeth Adkisson. I remember the day she came into the world. She was yellow from jondice and we wrapped her up like a glowworm. I was 16, and stayed with her when her mom, Amy started back to work. It was so traumatic to see Amy leave her with me; Amy was totally anguished to leave, and decided to stay home and raise her children. She just started back to teaching this year. (10 years later).Addy could never say my name, Courtney, so she started calling me "cocky". To this day, that is what I am to her, and her brother, and parents. I have watched Addy grow and mature into such an amazing ten year old. She is so knowledgeable of the Lord, His word, and eager to know his plan for her; and she seeks to do right.
Her brother, on the other hand... is ALL boy. He is so fun and a beautiful child... they were both in my wedding, as I have been carting them around since they could hold a bottle.
Their parents Bob and Amy are moving. They were married 14 years ago, and actually bought their first house from my parents. So, Addy and I were raised as little girls in the same house. They are moving from this house to a new one... so Addy came to stay with me during the chaos. We have had a great time- we ate pizza, went shopping, the pool and watched Facing the Giants..(her suggestion, I cried through the WHOLE thing, Jessica Hill). She was with us for 3 days, and we LOVED it. I hope she visits again soon.

finally....

Well, jason and I have officially been in our Jackson house a year. And we have completed some major work cosmetically... new hardwood, new carpet, new lighting, paint, etc... but our dining room has been low on our list. I absolutley cannot part with my dining room table- Jason built it for my first apartment in Nashville; it was our first dining table when we were married and we paired with a bench and some mis-matched chairs. Totally my style.
So Tammy,who is a decorator and also did our custom drapes for us totally loved the table and chairs. I was afraid it wasnt "formal enough" for the room, even though Jason and I are not formal at all....
Anyway, she came and measured and we picked out fabric, and now my beautiful 16 foot drapes are complete. We hung all of our pieces on the walls and I have to say... it looks pretty good!

dad's day-

I forgot to post the pictures from our weekend at home. All of you know how much i ADORE my Father... I cant even begin to post all of his accolades, or what he means to my family.
We hung out all weekend, and then on Father's Day, he wanted to do a crab leg boil. So, we fired it up and had Alaskan King Crab legs... SO fun. I hope that Jason and I are able to provide the home that he and mom did for me.

Today is my precious friend Shea Stewart Scarbrough's birthday. One of the truest and bluest friends that I have, Shea is a source of strength, depandability and friendship for me, and also such an example of a Godly wife. She and Daniel are expecting a bundle of joy , Abram Michael Scarbrough in September- and we cant wait for him to arrive!!! Happy Birthday Shea! I love you very much!

who are you callin' Ma'am?

Ok girls and guys. I'm insulted. SERIOUSLY insulted. Injured maybe.

STORY: I have joined the Exchange Club here in Jackson, (it's a civic organization that raises awareness for the prevention of Child Abuse) and we meet every Tuesday, and we have different programs, speakers, etc. Well, today's program was the Miss Tennessee Contestants. Great. Shoot me.

So I sulk my way into the room, wishing I had accessorized better or switched my glasses for contacts and left my hair down instead of the low pony I opted for this morning. Of course they have the contestants seated around the room, 2 or more at each table so there was no escaping them. I sat at the back of the room, beside Miss Collierville. She picked at her broccoli and grilled chicken and I began asking her about where she was from etc.

Conversation goes as follows:
( by the way, C: means me, G means that GIRL.".... " are my thoughts )

C: Hi, I'm Courtney... smile, firm shake

G: I'm Jane, (name disclosed for privacy)... perfect posture.

C: So where are you from? ..... trying to decide if she is a true blonde, or dyed- the brow's gave it away.

G: I am Miss Collierville, which is right outside Germantown which is outside of Memphis ... thank you, I dont need an Atlas.

C: So, are you guys staying at the Double Tree?

AND THEN IT HAPPENED....

G: No Ma'am. We are at the Old English Inn....... o.m.g. did she just call me MAAM??????? My eyes looked up and met my friend Brandy's. She knew I was on the verge of throwing my Chocolate Pie all over Miss Collierville's pastel suit.

The thing is, I continued to ask questions and she continued to call me ma'am. Shock and Awe. Shock and Awe.

Ok, do I look like a MAAM? All of the sudden thoughts flood my mind... Am I at that point? Does she think I am the age you call maam? Do I look older than I am ? Wait, AM i the age you call maam?
UGH!!!! Seriously, can you believe that?!

I've got Dance Fever-

Obviously, I am sure none of you are following this- but just in case you are watching So you think you can dance... here is my couple review. You may not know this but when I was little it was my dream to dance with Janet Jackson. HA! I used to always make to routines to my moms RECORDS! My mom was 20 when I was born, so when I was 4 and 5, we were listening to the Go'Go's. I love "You've got the Beat" and "our lips are sealed". Listen, I know this may be complete cheese to you, but please humor me as I live vicariously through these dancers.

#1 Hok and Jaime: Ok, Hok is amazing. Just watch this show one week to see how he performs. I have NEVER seen such. Jaime is a classical dancer, so she sturggled through this hop hop routine. I give them a 7.

#2 Anya and Danny: Danny is SOOO arrogant. He thinks he has this in the bag- I hope he goes home just because of his ego. Anya is a hottie from Russia who is amazing at whatever he does. They danced the jive- it was good. Um, a 9.

#3 Lacey and Cameron: Routines like this make me want to give up my job, move to NewYork and become a dancer. Seriously, tears came to my eyes watching this piece. Lacey is the sister of the winner of last years show- she is amazing. Cameron is a little cutie, who dances really masculine which is phenom. You should "You Tube" this one.

#4 Domink and Sabra: Disco... um, didnt love it. Forget-able.

#5 Ricky and Ashley: Argintene Tango- It was weird because these two are incredible on their own individual styles. He looked like he was swinging an Amazon around...she towered over him in this dance. 4.

#6 Sarah and Jesus. How you not like a guy names Jesus. He is such a humble guy- he came from a poor town and family in El Paso. His community had to take up money so he could take classes. Sarah is a beat boxer for the denver Nuggets. Wade Robson choregraphed this routine- and all of you know that Britney left Justin for Wade. (Cry me a River) Interesting routine-7.

#7 Jesse and Pacsha: Jason's first words... "ooh i like her, she is prett-ty." Uh- huh. Pascha is from Russia and he is a ballroom dancer. They danced the Smooth Waltz. This piece was enchanting- they danced it effortlessly. Classy. 8.

#8 Fiena and Cedrick :Ok, I want her body. Seriously, she is a specimen of health and beauty. They danced a Shane Sparks routine- he choreographed "You got served" . Um, it wasnt good. 5.

#9 Lauren and Neil: Salsa. I want to know how to Salsa dance! Can you imagine Jason Goolsby doing the salsa? HAHHAHA. ANyhoo, Neil is a little cutie.The only thing is that it wasnt engaging. 6.

#10 Shauna and Jimmy: Tyce Diorio was the choreographer to this routine. He is one of my favorites. This couple i equally matched in talent. They looked like they had been dancing together for years. It was a great routine. 9.

Overall: The girls out danced the guys. I am betting on a girl winner this year.

Sigh..... what a weekend!

So this was our FIRST weekend at home in about 6 weeks, and we enjoyed it SO much! On friday night we got together with friends and "celebrated" Jason passing boards. Then on Saturday we had a big day in the yard, and cleaning up around the house, etc. You all will be happy to know that Mattie has LOST WEIGHT- and so we rewarded her with a pool. Or as my borther Dan calls it.. a "cool". Now, i know that this kind gesture may seem redneck to a few of my readers, but rest assured... it is on the FAR side of the house, behind the fence so noone can see it. Seiously, she l.o.v.e.s to swim and gets so hot, that we thought we could give her a pool.
But because we gave her a pool, we decided it was time to build a gate to the deck. This has been on Jason's "to do" list for projects around the house, but this was a perfect time to get it done. Isnt he handy?
Yea for weekends at home!
