Belated 9 month post

9 months snuck up on me. We had something every weekend of May and his ninth month flipped right off the calendar... :( BUT, he did some majorly fun things in this month, so we REALLY enjoyed our time together.

Let's get right to it, shall we?

  • 21.11 lbs
  • 30 inches long
  • no ear infections! we were all healthy this month....
  • HAIR, HAIR and more HAIR... With Curls. I am talking this child has to be blow dried when he gets a hair washing. No, of course I'm not cutting it... Uncle Reid calls him McDreamy.
  • CONVERTIBLE CAR SEAT. Praise the Lord... that thing is like a lazy boy recliner compared to the cramped quarters he was riding in. Still facing reverse, c/o the AAP. We changed him over before our beach trip. It was much more enjoyable for everyone.
  • So with that change he also became a "buggy baby". I had been taking the stroller or car seat on our major shopping outings, but now that he's in the convertible and also in restaurant highchairs, we starting putting him in the shopping cart. Complete with cart cover, of course.
  • And now when we go to restaurants and he's sitting in his little seat, we break out the throw away placemats and lay a smorgasboard of snacks before him. He just plays away.
  • Eating is going great. He is basically eating almost everything that we are. He loves Pineapple, turkey, and anything with green beans or peas in it. He feeds himself really well and I have started letting him "try" to feed himself with the spoon. FAIL. However, this is a fun stage.
  • He's had a few indulgence food items: A powdered donut, (slammed it into his face- first SUGAR EVER.) watermelon, and sweet tea. The sweet tea was so funny... Jason let him have it one Sunday at Cracker Barrell and he stuck his entire tongue in the glass. It's really funny.
  • The biggest change for all of us, sans 4 lbs for me, is his MOBILITY. He is ON THE MOVE. At first it was the reach and pull, then the rock and sway and one day he just took off across the floor. Now he is all over the house.
  • Within 2 days he was pulling up,
  • and in a week he was crusing. It's SO much fun. I love seeing where he wants to go and what he wants to get into.
  • Thus leading us to babyproofing. MY sweet diligent husband put a lock on every door and a cover on every plug. And I am stuck when it comes to decorating... I have leaning bookcases in my den and he wants to pull everything off, and I dont know what to do? Take everything off? It will be so bare! Suggestions please...

  • Uncle Dan taught him to wave! He waves to "hey" and "Byyyyyyyyyyyyy bye". And he will even say bye bye. What a big boy he is.
  • Says mamamamamamama and dadad and shrieks REALLY high. Mandi calls him the porpoise.
  • Saw the ocean.... and hated the waves. Ha! We had a great time on our trip and he loved playing either in his duck pool, or in the shallow stream from Eastern Lake to the Ocean in Seagrove. He didn't mind the sand... just couldn't really figure it out.
  • Has developed a new affection for stuffed animals. He has really cared less about them until now. He loves his lamb that he sleeps with, and his Seahorse. The seahorse went in to every restaurant on 30-A.
  • The Crazy Crab! This is his front lawn blow up swimming pool. So cute and he loves it.
  • Cut another tooth! #3 and it's on the top... but it's not his middle front. It's the one right of the Right middle. And it's BIG.
  • Still in 12-18 month clothing
  • Witnessed a HCHS highschool graduation.. go aunt Lindsey!
  • Slumber Party with Rinks..
  • Oh! And meant to tell you all... we got him a little Chair! Ginger actually found it at TJMaxx and it is PERFECT for Graham. He climbs all over it and watched his movies in it. It was definitely a great purchase.
  • Love Love Loving him.

Beach Baby!!

Y'all, I have to brag on my boy... He did so great on vacation. Slept great, rolled with our times and schedules, and we had a GREAT time. We had friends that were down there too so we got to do dinner with the Scotts and Waltons.
It was so fun to do a trip with just the 3 of us... and I know it's a tradition that we will have forever. When Jason and I were first married as a poor med student and event planner, we would save our money and take a trip to the beach- just us! We've gone every since and it was so fun to add to our adventure with Baby Graham.

Hope you enjoy these pics!

The iPad Verdict- another one of my unsolicited opinions.

If it's good enough for Phil Dunfee....... (see video below from Modern Family.)

Just to let you know, I went to Best Buy and played around with it, just so I could give it somewhat of a real review. No, really, I have gone back and forth over this, and read reviews and have taken opinions from my mackie friends, and my verdict is...

Gimmick.

I just cannot find a real NEED for this gadget. It's a great marriage of computer, the touch and iphone, but if you have 1 of those products, why would you need this one too? And as far as typing... do you really want to type on a flat pad?
I dont.

And, just to get on a personal tangent... I dont think anything in the world replaces reading a real book with real pages. Now, I would LOVE to own a kindle- I enjoy reading and am now getting back into it after 18 months of pre pregnancy and post pregnancy books. but as far as reading to my kiddos-- I just cant imagine finger scanning Peter Rabbit. Call me an old soul.... :)

And lets admit it... It's an awkward size. Too heavy to hold in one hand...but not quite big enough to hold with one hand and navigate with another. And I havent seen really cute carrying cases for it. Hellllooooo, where are those?

You know, it may be good for someone, but it just not a product for me.

Take it away Phil....
